THE BUDDHIST CARER

Home: Welcome

Confusion

He feels not quite sure what time it is, what to do... Disoriented.

Waiting

Between 9 and 12 is when they said they'd be here. Whose time counts the most?

Leftovers

Chinese leftovers - from last night's dinner - for lunch. One of my favourites.

Fatigue…

"I'm tired" doesn't touch the sheer exhaustion I feel. Weary to my bones.

Zweite Heimat

Ich fühle mich wohl wenn ich mich auf Deutsch verweil'. Ich habe Reiselust!

FOMO

Seeing people's posts Of trips, near or far away. Fear of missing out.

Porridge

A bowl of porridge Evokes retreat conditions Just for a moment.

Shower

Having a shower Well, it's quite a palaver. Could slip any time.

Hydrate

Haven't had a drink Too busy badgering him Just drink more, Suzanne!

Just in case

The fear of maybe. He might fall; perhaps he'll choke. Better stay home.

Go to Butlins!

As weeks go, this has been quite a week. Hubbie was away with a friend at the weekend, and I managed to have a couple of nice days out....

Breaking point? (Haiku)

"You deserve a life" the nurse said to me today. I had no idea.

Waking up

This weekend's respite A glimpse of my life unlived. Reality check!

Coming home

He's on his way home How do I feel about that? My body tells me.

Autumn

Browning leaves falling Into the river at lunch. Autumn sun, welcome!

Relaxation

Relaxing takes time A process of letting go Be more Penny-dog.

Respite

Oh, what a relief He's away for three nights now. Tea, toast and TV!

Rain

Just look at that rain! The washing won't dry today Tumble dryer's on.

Self-destruct

Realised today: I don't like accepting help. Tend to self-destruct.

Under the weather

When the carer's ill Who cares for them? Who comforts? And who makes the tea?

A SPACE FOR ME TO CONTEMPLATE…

Welcome to my blog, a space where I can contemplate being a Buddhist and being a carer. I’m what’s known as an unpaid carer, but actually I “just” look after my husband who has Parkinson’s.
