So what shall I share

To give an idea of me?

Hard to know, really.

How much shall I share

Of my journey on this path?

Who am I, I ask?

Mitra, mother, friend

Unpaid carer, researcher

Daughter, dog owner.

And beyond labels?

I love and I laugh, I cry

I hurt and I heal.

Writing helps me

An aid for contemplation

A way to make sense.

I write to process

To notice, to fathom out

To reflect: this is me.

I’ve written this to introduce myself, in writing, to a group of women I don’t yet know. I’m finding the haiku format very comforting, it feels safe and familiar.
